If you were to imagine the predictions for 2050, what would be your top pick? Travelling to Mars? Artificial Intelligence becoming smarter than humans? Self-driving cars? 3D Printers disrupting traditional manufacturing? Virtual and Augmented Reality helping us explore more? Robots taking over workforce causing social instability? Or even a nuclear war making us re-set! Truth is, while all of us are generally curious about the future most of us don’t quite know how to best read today’s patterns, connect the dots, predict and more importantly prepare for what’s coming. In the business world, there is a greater sense of fear now as we see these newer technologies emerge, but we often fail to see the new avenues it would open to reshape our workforce. Example, futurists are predicting we will transform from an age of ‘Internet’ to an age of ‘Brain-net’ facilitating digital recording and instant transmission of our thoughts and emotions – fundamentally changing our social construct. While this sounds intrusive, imagine the explosion of new careers in the areas of neuroscience - we are going to need a lot more brain surgeons, neuro robotic engineers & implant technicians and brain data back-up engineers. The effort required to make sense of this data will also require a lot more data & analytics domain experts. Independent or freelance designers, teachers, artists, skilled workers will be the standard norm challenging individuals to tap into their real passions and pursue a more satisfying career. In fact, I think in about a decade or two all one will need to launch his or her own start-up is a great online presence strategy, a skill/product which drives value & a good marketing plan.

On a more immediate front, advancements in cloud and automation technologies are changing the industry landscape for good. Cloud is no longer alien to enterprises and businesses are embracing automation initiatives more than ever to improve their bottom line. As cloud computing enters its second decade, Gartner predicts that by 2021, more than half of global enterprises already using cloud today will adopt an all-in cloud strategy. The Institute for Robotic Process Automation also predicts that by 2020 about 40% of ITO (Information Technology Outsourcing) and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) providers will be fundamentally disrupted if they do not adapt to the industry demands. Fact is, virtually no industry is immune to the technology advancements. While enhancing customer satisfaction, improving profitability and faster time-to-market remain the key drivers for enterprises to embrace digital transformation, visionary leaders are using these technology changes as an opportunity to fundamentally transform their own business models instead of resisting the change. For businesses to stay relevant in such a rapidly changing environment, adaptability to new age technologies remains the key.

As we work with businesses and help them futurify (stay relevant/prepare for the future), we are constantly challenging ourselves and our partners to get out of the ‘comfort zone’. While driving digital transformation, our consultants continually experiment with new age technology and help businesses discover what to improve, where to innovate and how to transform. Encouraging enterprising minds across organizations, helping them collaborate better on ground-breaking ideas and executing those with incremental improvements remains our key focus while transforming businesses. Often businesses don’t know what forms a successful digital transformation strategy. Hence, helping them get over the hype (first!), hand-holding in defining a robust digitization approach and owning the execution layer should form the core of a Digital transformation consulting firm.

Transforming Work & Operations by digitizing processes and enhancing employee collaboration, Transforming Culture & People Processes by having transparent & more socially connected workforce, Transforming Customer Experience using customer analytics & Transforming Business Models by digitally modifying existing businesses remains the main foundations for driving a successful Digital Transformation strategy. Technology revolution is happening, whether we like it or not. An attitude of challenging ourselves to capitalize on the technology advancements to bring in even higher value to our clients will differentiate the businesses who successfully ride the current technology wave from those who go under. So - are you ready for the stride?
